Puppy Problems Solved: How Our Training in Hampshire Tackles Common Issues

Bringing home a new puppy fills us with excitement. However, it’s often not long before your house is taken over by chewing, barking and chaos. If you’re not an experienced dog owner, you might end up thinking, what have I got myself into?

At Canine Kids, we know the early weeks are full of questions and challenges. That’s why our puppy training classes in Hampshire are designed to tackle the most common problems with behaviour from the outset.

Here’s how we help turn that furry tornado into a well-mannered pup.

1. Chewing Everything in Sight

Puppies explore the world with their mouths. Although that’s normal, it’s not ideal when it’s your favourite shoes, sofa, or kids’ toys. That’s why in our classes, we teach redirection techniques. We encourage your puppies to use chew toys and other positive techniques to eliminate this issue.

2. Toilet Training Trouble

Accidents in the house? It’s common with a new puppy. We show you how to build a solid toilet routine, recognise early signals, and avoid common mistakes that delay progress. With consistency and clear guidance, most puppies get the hang of it faster than you’d think.

3. Jumping Up at Everyone

It might be cute when they’re small, but it’s not so sweet when they’re muddy and 25kg. We teach them to greet strangers calmly, so you can go on walks without the extra stress.

4. Biting and Nipping

Puppies might be cute, but their teeth are surprisingly sharp. This can be particularly tricky if you have young children around and worry about them getting hurt. Our trainers explain why puppies bite (hint: it’s not aggression) and how to teach bite inhibition through positive reinforcement, not punishment.

5. Not Coming Back

If your pup sprints off at the park and ignores every call, don’t worry – recall is a skill, and it can be trained. We focus on building trust and helping your dog learn that coming back to you is always rewarding.

6. Lack of Focus Around Distractions

Our group classes give puppies the chance to learn with other dogs around, which can be incredibly helpful. Your pup gets used to working with you even in exciting environments, helping them enjoy success in everyday life.
