Your Dog Training Checklist: Preparing for Your First Session in Hampshire Copy

Dog training is full of ups and downs. It can often feel frustrating but also be a great deal of fun. At Canine Kids, we’re here to make the process clear, kind, and effective from the very first session.
If you’re based in Eversley, you’re welcome to join us at one of our nearby venues in
Camberley, Farnham, Godalming or Northchapel. With this handy checklist we can help you and your dog arrive feeling calm, confident and ready to go.
What to Bring to Your First Dog Training Class
✔ Flat Collar or Harness & Lead
Please bring your dog on a flat collar or comfortable harness, and a standard lead (no extendable leads, please). These help improve safety and enable your dog to focus during training.
✔ Tasty Treats
Bring plenty of soft, tasty treats your dog really loves: think small pieces of cooked chicken, cheese, or commercial training treats. It’s best to cut them into pea-sized bits. Positive reinforcement is central to our modern training methods, and treats are a powerful motivator!
✔ A Treat Pouch (or Bum Bag!)
Having treats easily accessible means the process will be faster, which equals faster results. A pouch that clips onto your waistband or a bumbag works well.
✔ Their Favourite Toy (Optional)
If your dog prefers toys to food, bring a favourite squeaky or tug toy. We can work with whatever motivates your dog.
✔ Poo Bags
It goes without saying, it’s vital to clean up after your dog. All our venues are shared spaces and we want to keep them spotless!
✔ Water & Bowl
In summer, a travel water bowl is particularly a great idea. Your dog might get thirsty with all the learning and excitement.
What to Expect in Our Classes
Our classes are kept intentionally small to give every dog and owner the attention they deserve. We use only kind, reward-based methods backed by modern science and years of practical experience.
In each session, you’ll learn simple, effective techniques you can use at home and out on walks. We always tailor sessions to suit your dog’s needs. Many owners are surprised at how quickly they start seeing progress!
